چکیده
Abstract Background Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is an allergic response characterized by type 2 inflammatory reactions mediated T helper cells (Th2). Th2 elevated cytokines related to the humoral response, including Interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-5, IL-6, IL-9, IL-10, IL-13, IL-25 and IL-33. Allergic fungal sinusitis (AFS) a distinguishable form of CRSwNP primary localized disease non-invasive hyphae, which causes immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated mucosal hypersensitivity resulting in formation eosinophilic mucin. Interleukin-5 (IL-5) pro-inflammatory factor that plays very important role eosinophil biology. Objective To explore relation between IL-5 tissue protein expression AFS. Methods A prospective study performed on 70 patients divided into groups (50 cases AFS 20 control who underwent septoplasty partial inferior turbinectomy) assess IL5 compared control. Results was overexpressed group denoting as inflammation highlighting positive correlation Lund MacKay radiological score Sino-nasal Outcome Test (SNOT-22) for severity chronic (CRS) symptoms. Conclusion pivotal pathogenesis Thus, our results provide encouraging evidence supporting targeting eligible therapy promising benefits

Vol. 10 No. 1, January-March 2008 5 Introduction Allergic fungal sinusitis is a benign noninvasive sinus disease, believed to be an allergic reaction to aerosolized environmental fungi. It has been almost three decades when in 1976 Safirstein noted that the combination of polyposis, crust formation and sinus cultures yielding aspergillus was similar to the constellation of findings observed in ...

Allergic fungal sinusitis (AFS) is a benign, extramucosal, noninvasive fungal sinus disease representing an allergic/hypersensitivity response to extramucosal fungal pathogens in the sinus [1]. It occurs mainly in immunocompetent patients, in contrast to invasive fungal diseases that usually involve an immunocompromised host. The incidence of AFS in patients affected by chronic rhinosinusitis a...

BACKGROUND Although allergic fungal sinusitis is a relatively common, noninvasive form of paranasal sinus mycosis, and despite frequent orbital involvement, there have been few reports of this condition in the ophthalmic literature. METHODS Two cases of allergic fungal sinusitis having orbital symptoms are described. The current classification, typical presentation, and ideal management of fu...
